Friendship - help - support: what started with the medical help for one girl, the Mendok Project now had broadend. Right now it contains visiting a mountain school in Lupra on regular base, establishing friendships and arranging medical and other help if needed. The main area is Lower Mustang in the Kali Gandaki valley, a Himalaya district of Nepal between Anapurna and Dhaulagiri range.

Thank you so much -
- to all who baked a cake, who bought cake or supported us in any other way! Together with a collection for the project about more than 300 Euro we got more than 1.000 Euros today with the cake donation event. I am really overwhelmed - overwhelmed by what God is doing and overwhelmed by all of you, how you get behind us. Thank you

Getting down to business
Today we got a reservation on the flights from April 8th-22nd. And got a little miracle going with this. April is main season for travelling to Nepal, what means the flights are more expensive and by now almost all booked up already. But we got the last two seats for both flights on a flight that is even cheaper than the one we got last year in off season...
After a lot of calculating, phone calls and checking last year's travel diary we got the finances straight. The result of all the calculating is that we will need 4500 Euro all together. This includes all travel expenses, lodiging, provisions and all kinds of fees for all people involved. We already have 3100 Euro, which means we need another 1400 Euros until April.
Before we did all the planning today we first sat down and prayed. And we experienced once more how God opened ond door after another (for example the flights). To know that He prepared every step is not only very soothing, but it also gives us great confidence.
And I myself just love it, when many people together (with Him) make things like The Mendok Project happen!

We got the surgery scheduled!
For us this means to fix travel arrangements and to work on the fundraising. The treatment is free for Mendok, we just have to pay a small registraiton fee. That leaves us with the travel costs for all persons involved. If you want to learn more about it, just send a short email to dameria@projekt-mendok.org
By the way, there is another cake fundraiser on Sunday, January 30th at Calvary Chapel Siegen after the morning services.

Not many news...
- but a blessed New Year to all who stop by here once in a while to read the news, to join us in prayer or who donate for Mendok. On the right side you find the current prayer requests and a touching video from the British missions organization Asia Link.
On January, 30th we will have another cake-fundraiser at CC Siegen. Cakes and helpers for that Sunday are more than welcomed!
If you would like to receive the extented newsletter in English and German just email to dameria@projekt-mendok.org

Calendar 2011
First there was the question: What could we have as Christmas present for the ChapelKids team?! It all ended with a very special calendar for the Mendok Project. You can find the smaller version at the right border of the blog.
It is always cheaper to have a bigger amount printed, so we took advantage of this. Good news for everyone who lives around Siegen: you are more than welcomed to get one or some more of it. Or you can send a postpaid envelope (not a small one!) to
Calvary Chapel Siegen - Projekt Mendok - Alte Eisenstraße 6 - 57080 Siegen - Germany.
If you get some more we wouldn't mind a little donation for the project :-)

A Good Foundation
First of all a big "thank you" to all, who donated a cake or donated for a piece of it today! It was worth it in every sense. We got a good foundation with this fundraiser for the needed finances. We still can't numeralize them - we can't forsee if one surgery would be enough or Mendok will need a second one. Also we have to find out about the exact expenses for travelling, housing and aftertreatment and every other costs thereby incurred. But thanks to the missions bazaar we had today also we can cover at least one-fifth of the cost.
This not only encourages me, I also feel very blessed through all those people, who helped to this with smaller or bigger gifts. And I just love it to see, to experience and to feel how people get behind it, how they become part of the project through a little act of friendship, a little gift, a little step or a little act. Out of all those little things God then makes something big. So let's go on!
PS: the kids in children's ministry today came up with a lot of ideas to help to support Mendok. We will put some of those ideas online the next days.

First Post in English
Welcome to the new blog in English language! The next posts will be the same as the German ones. For so far, here's a summary of the so called November News:
We were able to set up a bank connection and can now start with fundraising for all the costs (surgery, travelling, lodging etc.)
Also we got in contact with a dentist in Nepal through the "Forum Wiedenest", a German mission association. This dentist went to Jomsom for medical camp beginning of November, but she wasn't able to meet Mendok. She only was there for four days and things had been really busy. But she has contact to the right places to have a cleft palate surgery done. So next step is the decision where to get the surgery, to schedule dates and to raise money.
This coming Sunday, 28th of November, there will be a missions sale at Calvary Chapel Siegen after the morning services in favor of the Mendok Project. So if you like crafts and cake, stop by...
